What is nettle extract?
Stinging nettle, or urtica dioica, originated from northern Europe and northern Asia and is now considered a common weed in the everyday garden.1 While the plant itself can cause irritation or “stinging” when you touch it, processing, boiling, or other forms of treatment creates a potent extract with extreme health benefits, both internally and externally. Used in topical treatments and steeped in teas, nettle offers both nutrients and antioxidants for bodily improvement.
Benefits of Nettle Extract
Nettle contains various vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Nutrients such as Vitamins A, C, and K, minerals like calcium and iron, and all the essential amino acids nourish skin and body upon consumption or application.2 Various nutrients also act as antioxidants, which fight free radicals in your body and can help fight against signs of aging and cellular damage.
